2017 Syrah

$25.00

Out of stock

And yes, that’s French for Shiraz. Basically its name is a reference to the wine’s style. More perfumed, smooth and sophisticated than a full-on fruit bomb. More earthy white pepper than hardcore spice. But you know what? Que sera sera, syrah.

Region: Yarra Valley

Alc/Vol: 14%

Smells like: Back pepper, cherries, tar and roses

Tastes like: Cherry compote and mocha, with soft tannins

Goes with: Rib roast, spicy pork pizza, hard cheeses, good food, good friends and dinners that go on late into the night

Reviews: 94 points – 2019 Halliday Wine Companion
“The colour and name makes it clear this isn’t a full-bodied shiraz, but its distinctly fragrant and spicy red and black cherry fruits speak clearly of the cool climate of the Yarra Valley. The syrah name is appropriate, the juicy mouthfeel; a major plus.”96 points –

“This is a great little drop”

93 points – Peter Chapman, Views on the Vines, News Corp, December 2017

“Some say shiraz, some say syrah. Nice stylish red with earthy flavours and good spice. Good easy drinking wine from Victoria’s Yarra Valley.”

- Halliday Wine Companion, April 2017

“Serial winner, vintage by vintage, of show awards, this winning gold at the Yarra Valley Wine Show in ’16, matured in french oak. It has very good hue and depth, it gets you attention from the first whiff, the first sip. The black fruits have special texture and structure, demanding you take the next mouthful before finishing the first, the tannins also add to both flavour (spicy) and texture (fine, persistent).”
